Danish design brand Bolia is taking the UK market by storm with two flagship stores opening in London. Founded by Lars Lyse Hansen in 2000 in the creative Danish city of Aarhus, there are now more than 100 stores worldwide. Bolia was an early adopter of online retailing. “London has always been one of the world’s great design cities,” Lars says, “making it the perfect place to introduce the next chapter of Bolia. Together with Martin Lindstrøm and his talented team, we have challenged ourselves to rethink every aspect of the in store experience – from the way customers discover our collections to how they feel when they walk through the door. We welcome the people of London to Bolia!”
Highlights of the Autumn Winter 2026 Collection include the Cosima Nest Sofa, Kaio Coffee Table and Eida Dining Table. Organic form and adaptability to flexible living are key. Comfort and style go without saying. Cosima is a modular sofa series with low armrests and backrests in a relaxed lounge form. Soft down and feather filling is sewn into channels over wooden solid inner construction. This increases durability and shape retention. Bolia is more than just furniture. Arcs Tableware designed by Berlin based studio Büro Famos is a range of porcelain plates and bowls. Relying on Bolia, it really is possible to curate a Gesamtkunstwerk.
Dan Chapman founded Shekåbba with his wife Rosanna in 2019. It’s a British online retailer specialising in Danish furniture. White glove delivery and assembly are all part of the service Shekåbba offers. Bolia is their biggest seller. “Our customers really appreciate the clean Scandinavian design and use of sustainable natural materials,” says Dan. “Their 12 year guarantee is industry leading. It’s great that our customers can now visit the London stores to see Bolia furniture and accessories in person.”
Bolia is becoming a household name for homeware across the globe. There are five Bolia stores in Paris alone. Boulevard Sébastopol in the 3rd Arrondisement (très chic: think Le Marais). Boulevard St Germain in the 5th Arrondisement (Rive Gauche stylishness: think The Panthéon). Rue Tronchet in the 8th Arrondisement (super central: think Place de la Concorde). Avenue Victor Hugo in the 16th Arrondisement (ultra cultural: think Palais de Tokyo). Boulevard de Courcelles in the 17th Arrondisement (ambassadorial elegance: think Arc de Triomphe). There’s also a store on Boulevard Jean Jaurès in Boulogne-Billancourt, a smart suburb west of central Paris.
Tonight’s the Grand Opening of Bolia on London’s Tottenham Court Road. Tomorrow it’s Portman Square. The former is 332 square metres; the latter, 300 square metres. The average British house is 85 square metres so there’s plenty of shopping to be done. Vintage pieces mix with the latest Bolia hits. A coffee bar adds to the relaxed retail vibe. DJ Billie-Jean Blackett ups the tempo. Sitting on a curved Avelou modular sofa. Bubbly, Bellini, Moscow Mule, Negroni and – for the dry curious – Sbaglia’no get the party going. Tottenham Court Road has been famous for furniture shops since the late 18th century. Bolia adds early 21st Danish flair.
